Personal Use License

Print our designs for yourself and the people you love.

This license lets you print our stitchable cross stitch frames and boxes for your own personal use. It's made for makers who want to stitch, gift, and keep — not sell. We're a small family studio, and this license is how we let you enjoy our designs at home while the design itself stays ours.

Each design is licensed separately. You buy the personal license for a specific design, and the terms below apply to that design.

At a glance

You may print the file for yourself, gift finished pieces to family or friends, resize it for your own use, and have a friend or print shop print it for you.

You may not sell anything made from the file, use it for classes or business, or share the digital file — with one exception: you can donate or sell up to 10 finished pieces per license to a charity or fundraiser.

Watermark: Personal-use files carry a small GoodStrings mark on the bottom of the printed item.

What's included

Each listing states which files come with that design. Files may include STL and/or 3MF formats. Editable source files are not included. This license covers one purchased design at a time unless the listing states otherwise.

What you may do

  • Print the file for your own personal use.
  • Print finished items as personal gifts for family or friends.
  • Resize the file for your own personal use.
  • Store the file in private personal cloud storage.
  • Authorize third-party printing. Ask someone else to print the file for you, including a friend or print shop, as long as they only print it for you and don't keep, reuse, sell, share, or distribute the file.

What you may not do

  • Sell printed items made from these files.
  • Sell finished pieces — stitched, decorated, finished, or altered products made using these printed blanks.
  • Use as kit components — printed items used as supplies in DIY kits, craft kits, subscription boxes, workshops, classes, group projects, or business products.
  • Sell on e-commerce channels — Etsy, Shopify, Faire, Amazon, eBay, TikTok Shop, Instagram, markets, craft fairs, wholesale, or any other sales channel.
  • Distribute printed items for business, promotional, or commercial purposes. Charity use is allowed under the exception below.
  • Distribute digital assets. No sharing, gifting, reselling, copying, uploading, transferring, distributing, or sublicensing the digital files.
  • Upload to shared spaces — maker platforms, file-sharing sites, public or private groups, school folders, library systems, print farms, or shared cloud folders.
  • Tamper with branding. No removing, covering, editing, or hiding the GoodStrings mark.
  • Claim the design as your own.

Resizing and modifications

You may resize the file for your own personal use. Resizing doesn't add more stitches to the stitchable grid — the design simply gets larger or smaller, and the grid may no longer match Aida 11 spacing.

Any changes are made at your own risk. We're not responsible for printing, stitching, fit, or grid issues caused by resizing, editing, slicer changes, printer setup, filament choice, or modified files.

Modified files, and printed items made from them, stay under this license — they may not be sold, shared, uploaded, distributed, donated for business use, or used commercially. The GoodStrings mark must stay visible and unaltered.

Group, class, charity, and business use

This license doesn't cover classes, stitching clubs, group projects, business promotions, workshops, or other commercial settings.

Charity allowance: You may donate or sell up to 10 finished, printed items per license to a charity, cause, or fundraiser — whether given away outright or sold with proceeds directed to that charity. This is the only exception to the personal-use restrictions above. Buying an additional license adds another 10 pieces to this allowance.

If a group wants to use the design personally, each person needs their own digital file or a commercial license.

Refunds and support

Because these are digital files, all sales are final once purchased or downloaded. We can help with file access or file-related issues. Printer calibration, slicer settings, filament problems, failed prints, and machine-specific troubleshooting are the buyer's responsibility.

Copyright

All designs and digital files remain the intellectual property of GoodStrings. A personal license gives you permission to use the design under the terms above. Ownership and copyright are not transferred.
