Commercial License

Print and sell products made from GoodStrings designs.

This license lets you print and sell finished products made from our stitchable cross stitch frames and boxes. It’s made for makers, small studios, and market sellers who want to turn our designs into things they sell — while the design itself stays ours. We’re a small family studio, and this license is how we let other makers build on our work without it being copied or resold as files.

Each design is licensed separately. You buy the commercial license for a specific design, and the terms below apply to that design.

At a glance

You may sell finished stitched pieces online and worldwide, sell blank prints in person, run them through a print service for your own orders, and include them in your own subscription box.

You may not sell blank prints online on their own, sell or share the files, sell wholesale, or make more than 150 units per design.

Term: 12 months per design · Limit: 150 finished products per design · Files supplied without the GoodStrings mark.

The full terms are below. If anything here is unclear before you buy, email us — we’d rather answer first.

What’s included

Each listing states which files come with that design. Files may include STL and/or 3MF formats. Editable source files are not included. Commercial files are supplied without the GoodStrings watermark used on personal-use files, and no GoodStrings branding is required on your products, packaging, or listings.

License term and limits

This license covers one purchased design at a time unless the listing states otherwise. It is valid for 12 months from the purchase date and covers one person or one business, including that business’s employees and contractors when they produce items only for that licensed business.

  • Production limit: Up to 150 completed products from each licensed design during the active 12-month term.
  • How units are counted: One completed product is one unit, regardless of how many printed parts it contains. A box with a lid, body, and clip-in cover counts as one unit. A finished stitched frame counts as one unit.
  • After your license ends: You may keep selling stock you printed or assembled during the active term. You may not make new units once the license expires unless you renew it.
  • Renewal: A new 12-month term and production allowance can be purchased at the rate listed at the time of renewal.

What you may do

  • Sell blank prints in person. Sell printed frames, boxes, and other blank products at markets, fairs, workshops, events, or your own physical retail space.
  • Sell finished pieces anywhere. Sell stitched, embroidered, painted, decorated, or otherwise finished products made from the design — online and in person, worldwide, including your own shop, Etsy, and social media.
  • Make DIY kits for in-person sale. Sell DIY kits through physical locations, where you assemble and supply the printed components.
  • Include them in your own subscription box. Sell a subscription box online or in person where you assemble the box, the printed product is one of several items in it rather than the only product, and it is not sold or presented as a DIY kit.
  • Use a print service. Have a print service, print farm, or contractor manufacture items for your business, within these limits. They may only print for you and may not keep, reuse, sell, share, or distribute the file.
  • Resize or modify for your own use. Adapt the file for your commercial use. Resizing changes stitch spacing, and edits may affect fit, print quality, or function — changes are made at your own risk.
  • Place products on physical consignment. Place printed products on consignment with a physical retail business.

What you may not do

  • Sell blank prints online on their own. No selling unaltered blank frames, boxes, or other prints through Etsy, Shopify, Faire, Amazon, eBay, TikTok Shop, Instagram, or other online channels. The only exception is the subscription box described above.
  • Sell wholesale, blank or finished.
  • Place products for online consignment or resale with an online shop or marketplace seller.
  • Sell or share the files. No sharing, gifting, reselling, copying, uploading, transferring, distributing, or sublicensing the digital files, modified files, or derivative 3D files.
  • Upload to shared spaces — maker platforms, file-sharing sites, public or private groups, school folders, library systems, print farms, or shared cloud folders.
  • Use the design outside your licensed business. No transferring the license, using it for another business, or letting another maker produce or sell under your license.
  • Exceed 150 units per design without buying another license.
  • Claim the design or files as your own.

Modifications and responsibility

Modified files, and products made from modified files, stay under this license and may only be sold within the permissions and limits above.

We can’t be responsible for printing, stitching, fit, grid, or quality issues caused by resizing, editing, slicer changes, printer setup, filament choice, or modified files. Those come down to your own equipment and settings.

Group, class, charity, and business use

This license is for the named license holder only. It does not cover a separate person, business, school, club, workshop, charity, class, subscription service, or event organizer — each needs their own commercial license.

Refunds and support

Because these are digital files, all sales are final once purchased or downloaded. We can help with file access or file-related issues. Printer calibration, slicer settings, filament problems, failed prints, and machine-specific troubleshooting are the buyer’s responsibility.

Copyright

All designs and digital files remain the intellectual property of GoodStrings. A commercial license gives you limited permission to use the design under the terms above. Ownership and copyright are not transferred.
